This is a multiplayer rules variant I heard described on the WotC message board that sounds fairly interesting. It requires exactly five players. Each player plays a mono-colored deck, with one player playing each color. They sit in the same order of the symbols on the back of the card (white, blue, black, red, green), and whichever player's opposing colors die first is the winner (for example, the green player wins if the blue and black decks lose). Sounds chaotic enough to be fun. I have mono-color decks in black, blue, and white, and decks that could easily be modified into mono-red or green.

Sure. You could just look at the back of a card for this, but:
White: Allies are blue and green, enemies are red and black.
Blue: Allies are black and white, enemies are green and red
Black: Allies are red and blue, enemies are white and green.
Red: Allies are green and black, enemies are blue and white.
And artifacts.... well, everybody's friends with them to some extent.

Next time we get a bunch of people in one place for Magic we should try this.

Well, I've played two games of Pentagram magic (about a week ago, maybe?) and it really wasn't as much fun as it sounded. It really sucks when all of a sudden you lose, even though you personally weren't defeated.
In the first game, I was playing black. The green player (Arcades), simultaneously wiped out both me and the blue player (Volrath). The red and white players didn't seem too thrilled.
The second game, I was playing white. Now, my white deck isn't all that spectacular, so I wasn't expecting to win anyway. But, one of my allied players (I forget what color, but it was Baron Sengir), got an infinite combo that simultaneously ended both of his opposing colors, therefore making me lose without actually being defeated. Really isn't all that fun.

I'd have to agree that it wasn't much fun. Next time we play we should outlaw infinite combo decks, or saporling decks or decks that have the ability to kill two people who are at full health at one time in one turn.

Maybe you could get away with that deck. We just couldn't let you get 500 tokens.

it take a while to get 30 tokens out i can only put 2 out at a time unless its pretty far into the game, and even if i put all the token makeing power to use in the deck i can only put out a max of 5 tokens a turn, with 2 isochron scepters with raise the alarms on them and a mobilization in play too

If decks that had the ability to kill more than 1 player in a single turn were banned from Pentagram Magic, a few of my decks would be banned, like my blue milling deck, black rat deck, black discard/deck destruction deck... My vampire reanimator deck would also be a little dubious for that sort of game, 4 Sengir Vampires and a Baron Sengir by the end of turn 5 Still, my Elf deck would be fun to play in Pentagram Magic, the ability to gain 150 life, generate 70 mana, and recycle everything each turn... it is alot of fun. Pointy eared elves everywhere

Elf decks are, from my experience, fun for the person playing them, but not for anyone else.
