Okay, the idea here is to take two cards that are very similar (same color, similar function) and compare the two, so that we reach a conclusion as to which card is overall better. Round 1: Dragon Whelp vs. Furnace Whelp. Both of these dragons cost 2 to summon, but Furnace Whelp trades in Dragon Whelp's extra toughness point in exchange for limitless firebreathing. Which is the better creature? Both have their strong points: Dragon Whelp can block a lot more things and survive ( White Knight, Savannah Lions, etc.). Furnace Whelp, on the other hand, has the advantage that it doesn't die if you pump its power above 5. The situation determines which of these qualities is more important, I suppose, but which card is overall better? I have to say that, as much as I like the Furnace Whelp (because it's newer, I own it, and it has a better picture), it's not quite as good as Dragon Whelp. The ability to survive more often as a blocker is a little more important, in my opinion. What do the rest of you think?

I'd have to go with Furnace Whelp. If need be I can enchant it to pump up the toughness, but it really isn't all that important to me. Plus I like that you can do this as many times as possible and not have to worry about sacing it. Finally, I like Furnace Whelp's picture more, so ha.

Well, this thread doesn't seem to be taking off... let's try one more time. Chrome Mox vs. Mox Diamond. Which of these mana accelerators is better? Both of them cause card disadvantage (imprint a card for Chrome, discard a land for Diamond). Diamond can produce any color of mana, whereas Chrome Mox can only produce the color(s) of what's imprinted on it. However, Mox Diamond costs you a land. Lands are essential for playing stuff in your deck, and unless you happen to get flooded with lands in your starting hand, dropping one for the Mox Diamond is going to hurt. At least it's discarded rather than removed from the game though, so you can get it back with something like Crucible of Worlds. Chrome Mox, on the other hand, removes something from the game. You can get that card back with Ring of Ma'ruf or one of the Wishes, but doing so means that it's no longer imprinted on your Chrome Mox, meaning that it no longer produces mana. I have to pick Mox Diamond as being the better of the two cards, because the card you lose can be retrieved, and it's also more versatile because it can produce any color of mana, whereas Chrome Mox is restricted by what else you get in your starting hand.

Mind Ravel and Unhinge do almost exactly the same thing. The big diference is when you get to draw a card. So in the end I like Unhinge more.
