I had an idea for an inexpensive draft simulation that might be fun. I call it a commons draft. Everybody who participates brings in a certain number of commons, all of which are lumped together in one big pile. Then they're dished out in groups of 15 to simulate booster packs, and passed around like in a draft. Would anybody be interested in giving this a try?

It's a possibility, I suggest everyone that participates make a list of what they are bringing and how many of each though.

And it would really be better if not everybody brought stuff from the same set....

So if able, everyone should bring a different set.

I can cover any set in the Mirrodin block and supply a lot of various sets, particularly Stronghold, and Mirage block.

If I get this Tempest box, I can supply that. Out of curiosity, when were you planning on doing this?

No real timetable, just an idea that I threw out there.

I once participated in a tournament that did this, I think I remember the rules for the organisation. 1. All players supply a set minimum of commons (60+ is best) and up to a maximum of 10 copies of each common provided. 2. Each participant supplies the organiser(s) with a list of cards he or she provided, inclusing the quantities of each card. A cope of this list is handed to the organiser(s). 3. Cards are distributed among players as a draft, decided by the roll of a dice (highest first) and then following in descending order of the die roll. 4. All land cards are provided by the individual players, however they are not provided for the draft. 5. All decks must contain a minimum for 40 cards. 6. All games are played for ante. 7. Once the tournament is over all cards are returned to their rightful owners and cards are checked against the card lists supplied to the organiser(s). I think that is how it went, was fun to do and we held a few of them
