They seem to have a great devotion to their collectors. I mean look at the promise they made to collectors to never reproduce certain cards. Financially it makes no sense just like a limited run of this set. Just print more of the d**n things and sell them to make more money.
I think Wizards is trying to balance the collectors and the players markets by appealing to both. If you strictly appeal to collectors you kill the players market and vice-versa. They want both so they are trying to do things to appeal to both, and collectors of Magic have come to a point where they not only collect the cards, but expect certain cards to be worth so much and maintain that value. To do that they need to be extremely conscious of the number of cards they make. So in a sense by making this set they are trying to give players a better chance of getting the crazy rare cards like Tarmagoyf, but not entirely destroying the collector's value of the card. There are a lot of people that don't play the game and just collect the cards and spend a lot of money doing so.
I know there are things they can improve on, but I'm trying to be an optimist about it and I really don't think Wizards is an entirely evil company like so many think they are.

Wizards of the Coast is just a subsidiary of Hasbro. Hasbro is an evil company. Still though, I personally believe that they owe no obligation to the secondary market, and that when the needs of collectors and the needs of players clash, Wizards should come down on the side of players every single time. That, in my opinion, is the only way to maintain the long-term health of the game.

Fair enough. I'm in the middle road on that but I definitely can see your point of view and wouldn't necessarily object to Wizards going that route.
