Shocker deck

[Maraxus of Keld]

This isn't the most effective deck I've ever built, but it's fun as hell to play. Although nobody likes to play it very much (can't imagine why ).

Creatures:

4x Shocker
4x Cephalid Looter
4x Cephalid Broker
2x Solemn Simulacrum

Artifacts/Enchantments:

4x Viridian Longbow
3x Lightning Greaves
3x Necrogen Spellbomb
4x Geth's Grimoire
4x Megrim

Instants/Sorceries

4x Wheel and Deal
1x Diabolic Vision
4x Cannibalize
4x Terror

This deck wins through Megrim most of the time, although I have decked more than one opponent. Basically, a Shocker with a bow cycles your hand very quickly. And if I have a Grimoire in play, that means massive card draw for me.

This deck's biggest weakness is that it can't handle an assault by an opponent's creatures very well. Being that the biggest creatures in this deck are 2/2, anything bigger than that is a problem. So are flyers. However, opposing creatures are why I have the wonderful combo of Cannibalize and Terror in the deck. Hopefully I don't need to explain how that works. It just really sucks when I'm playing a black or artifact deck and I can't use Terror.

Overall, this deck is so much fun to play, but somebody always groans when they play against it. Opinions/suggestions for improvement?

This is a pretty good deck from what I've seen you do with it. I'm pretty sure you've played it before right? Unless I am thinking of another deck you have.

No, you're right. You've seen me play it several times.
It works if I'm left alone long enough to get what I need out in play. The thing is, that doesn't always happen. Sometimes once people recognize my deck they take me out before I can become a threat.

i think this is is fine if ur facing a person who doesn't have any 1st or 2nd drops in their deck. but it can aslo be killed easily by a shock, E-bolt, or Lightning Bolt, any of those can Kill the Shocker, the only thing that bothers me is that card i think u would be able to better things in the deck.

shocker isn't neccesarilly the main card of the deck, just the name of it. it functions well without it.

And if they don't kill it right away, there's usually a Lightning Greaves on the Shocker as soon as he's safely into play.

I certainly agree this isn't the most effective deck out there; it's actually far from it. But ever since I first saw Shocker I wanted to build a deck around it, and after about two years of unsuccessfully trying to obtain a playset of them, this deck is what materialized once I finally got my 4.

Yup. There's almost always a Longbow on the table either when Shocker comes in or shortly thereafter, then when he gets equipped the Shocker kicks some major butt. When he pings, you drop 3, 4, however many cards you have (which is quite a lot sometimes, esp. if I hit Wheel and Deal first).

Its a lot to add and perhaps not really worth it but there is a way to solve the creature problem. Then the only issue is direct damage. You could use some form of token producer combined with Bubble Matrix. Breeding Pit is among the most effective because its the cheapest to play and the upkeep is small. It also happens to be of a color your using. Otherwise you can use the pegasus one whos name escapes me. That way you could handle flyers as well.
