When Life Bottle comes into play, pay any amount of life. Put a number of life counters on Life Bottle equal to the life paid.

Remove a life counter from Life Bottle - Choose 1: Target creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn, or you gain 1 life.

If there are no life counters on Life Bottle, sacrifice it.

When Life Bottle leaves play, you gain life equal to the number of life counters on Life Bottle.

I like that. You can either use it to hide some life for later, or use it like a Hatred spell.

Or even if you need a little extra boost when blocking..... (although I suppose hatred would do that to, but it's kind of a waste of a good card).

Anyway, it sounds like something that should have been in 4th or 5th edition...
