Just wondering for of those out there into this stuff which do you prefer and why? I myself prefer sealed over draft. I've never competed in an actual sealed event but I've done a couple of drafts and they were ok. I have done sealed events on the old Magic computer game now granted it's not the same as a real tournament I just prefer the setup. I think I would enjoy an actual sealed event more.

I like draft because you get a little more control over what cards you have. And if you watch the packs carefully as they come back to you, you can figure out what colors people are not playing. That gives you a little bit of an idea what to expect.

WEll all tournaments are a gamble but the last draft I did I had a hard time deciding what to use. Eventually I was pulling cards to try to prevent others from using them against me. I guess it all comes down to I was exposed to the sealed event first and I did a lot of that on the computer.

There are definitely different strategies for the two. In sealed events, you simply make the best deck you can from what you're given.
In draft, however, you can look at the cards that are being passed to you and figure out, based on what's there and what's not, what colors the people "upstream" of you are playing. That way, you can avoid taking those same colors and also have some idea of what to expect from them.

I like the draft strategy more its just I am terrible at it. I howver had amazing luck to have pulled a Platinum Angel, Prestine Angel and Luminous Angel along with the CoP Artifacts that one time.

Well it's a different mindset than regular magic, so it takes time to get used to. I'm trying to get better at it as well, because I usually don't do well in drafts outside our own playgroup.

The problem is with me there is really nothing I want anymore. The only reason to draft or do a sealed is if someone wants to use me to increase the chances to pull cards for them. This way they can take what I get after the tournament.
