I've noticed that Wizards used to have multiple pictures for the same card in many different sets, specifically Fallen Empires, Homelands, and Alliances off the top of my head. I don't think it's been done since then, but I could be wrong. Anyone know what led them to do this, or why they stopped?

I liked the multiple pictures. Makes it hard to collect a set though. Best thing was I alwas found it funny that unless you had multiple pictures of something every creature, land and every other spell looked exactly alike.

Maybe they stopped it b/c having multiple pictures would mean having either less different cards or a bigger set.

Or maybe it was so they didn't have to pay as many different artists.

Generally, there was one picture that blew the rest away. For example, with Icatian Infantry, the picture by Edward Beard is far better than the other ones. |

yeah, just like the one hymn with the wolf pictures is cooler than the other 3. It is also conveniently the autocarded picture |

I like the Hoover one best. Also, I was around five or six at the time, so it is perhaps understandable. :)

In fact, Fallen Empires were my first packs. And I'll try and check your forum out tomorrow. I'd do it tonight but I've got homework I should be doing. |

i probably started right around when Ice Age went out of print. so 1996-97 sometime.
