So what will this set bring? The whole block is multi-colored for sure, so does this mean a set similar to Apocalypse or Invasion? Any comments, questions, etc?

There will be some new block mechanics to be sure, and possibly a new take on an old one (like how cycling was brought back and made useful). I hear rumor that Shadow may be making a comeback, but I'll believe that when I see it. I hope not, shadow really wasn't that interesting.

i doubt Shadow will come back. The Shadow creatures, storylinewise, were not spirits. They were just 3 societies stuck in between planes of reality.

And shadow does not fit the oriental flavor of Kamigawa.

look in the announcements. I made a post that links to three different sites with spoiler lists. I believe it is called spoiler lists galore. By now it should be easy to get a spoiler list.

I'm sure it's on the WotC site too.
Well, we were right about some things, wrong about others. There are still no gold cards, although there are two sets in the block, so maybe they'll make a comeback. And I was right, shadow has not come back. Thankfully.

No, but they made spirits and the bushido ability which is a lot eviler than it may seem. As you may have noticed.

Anybody think mono-black control can be viable? Cranial Extraction should be able to shut down Tooth and Nail decks pretty well, as well as hamper Raffinity a bit. Should be easy to disrupt Crystal Witness (just take out Eternal Witness). Anything that doesn't actually require specific cards to work (like Big Red) is harder to disrupt though. As for what the other 56 cards in a mono-black control would be, I'm not really sure. I guess Wicked Akuba could be part of it. Beyond that I'm not really sure. There probably wouldn't be much from Mirrodin block in there, since they hosed black as badly as blue in those sets.

There was talk at first about a blue/black control deck being the best the set could offer, but as of yet, no one stellar deck has been built. I've built what I call a burn-samurai deck. it is red/white. I'll post it in the arsenal shortly. Right now it is only in the early stages. As far as other decks, red burn decks are a definite possibility, black can be really good if used with previous sets, and a bklue black control is definetly conceivable, in fact I'm trying to work one out with the cards I have, b/c right now, getting specific cards from the set is EXTREMELY difficult, and I mean this for commons, uncommons, and rares. I've never seen a set that spreads its cards around so much before.

ChK (I have to say this) ROXORZ YOUR BOXORZ!
Okay.
That's over with.
You've probably heard this before, but I think Cranial Extraction could offer B/U control something, especially w/ Relentless Rats.

I've seen a really cool deck idea that involves stuffing a combo deck full or Relentless Rats then using an Extraction to get rid of them in a sort of Doomsday-esque effect, shrinking your library down to the bare essentials. On top of that, it could double as a Relentless Rats deck if you need it to.
