In order to create the story, I can think of two basic starting decisions that need to be made:
1. Do we want the story to take place on an existing plane (i.e. Dominaria, Rath, Mirrodin, etc.) or do we want to come up with our own?
2. Do we want the story to be very specific (like Tempest and onward) or more vague, where you can piece somewhat of a story together but it doesn't necessarily flow in a linear fashion (more like Ice Age, Homelands, Fallen Empires, etc.)?

Personally, I would rather we invent our own plane for the story to take place. It's more creative and places less restrictions on us.
As far as how complete the story is, I'm not really sure how I feel about this. If we want a linear story then it only makes sense that somebody write it. I think I could be up to the task if I had the necessary time, but I've been very busy at school as of late and would not welcome that much extra work.

I have a strange idea that could get some more activity here. We could do an online roleplaying type thing. We just need to figure out who will be the (for lack of a better term) DM.

Explain? Do you mean that we make characters and roleplay them out to make the story?

Yes. that is exactly what i mean. We would just need to create the world and the intro for the story. Of course, we would need someone (one person or a group) to generally run the story and direct where it is going to go, but details will be filled in on their own.

we should make a world of our own, like maraxus said, we get more freedom.
and what volrath said sounds cool.

I join. You don't need a DM though, go to my boards and there's a RP board, and we don't need a DM.

Do we still wanna do this? It seems like nobody has followed up on this idea. For those of us that play D&D (that's myself, Volrath, Baron Sengir, and thekadar81 if he ever comes back), we could save the group some effort by taking characters we've used in D&D games (either PCs or NPCs), and make them characters in this story. In fact, a lot of them have already been made into cards on this board, such as: Grug the CalibanEventine SiannodelJinn Tolser, both the human and vampire versions Laucian LiadonBlackthorne, Drunken MasterThere are actually quite a few more, but I don't feel like linking to them all, and this more than makes my point. Some of these would obviously require some reworking, especially Eventine, since we aren't using Threshold. But I would probably split the two versions of Eventine into two separate cards to mark his personality change, much like I did with Jinn.

I like the pure-text idea. How about one of you admins makes a board for us to do it on?

My only worry with the pure-text is that it will take forever to complete the story. For one, certain people are not regularly available (like chainer, whose board presence is currently limited to weekends, as I understand it). Also there develops the problem of some people not stopping by for awhile when trivial things like real life get in the way. I'm willing to give it a shot, but we need to set a definite ending point and have enough people RPing consistently to keep the story moving.

Hey, don't blame me: I'm one of the most frequent posters on the board! I vote to move ahead.
