Just wanted to give a basic description of how planeswalkers work as I know its a new concept to the game. Plansewalkers(PW) are a permanent so they are in play once you cast them. They all have 3 abilities. You choose one ability on your turn to play as a sorcery but it happens for free. What does happen is the PW loyalty goes up or down based on the ability you use. The cost to play the ability is shown by either a + or - loyalty payment. The loyalty that the PW starts with is the number in the lower right corner of the card. If The PW reaches 0 loyalty, he/she basically dies. Picture a PW as another player that is working for you, and at the point of reaching 0 loyalty the PW says, f*&^ this, and leaves. In the event you use an ability of the PW that drops it to exactly 0, the ability happens and then the PW goes away. In some cases you'll notice that the PW has an ability that gives him - loyalty that will put his/her loyalty in the negative; such is the case of Sorin's turn control ability. In this case you can't use that power until you build up their loyalty using the + abilities. So just like using your life total, you can't pay life you don't have. PW's can also be attacked like a player, so when an enemy creature attacks, it can go either after you, or the PW. You can block for the PW with your creatures just like you can block with your creatures for yourself. Hope this helps.

That's more or less what I remembered from reading about them when I first discovered they existed.
For what it's worth, anybody who uses the third ability of the one pictured there against me will never do so a second time. Fortunately, nobody in our group likes to be that much of an not a very nice person in Magic.

thats fine, i'll stick to mindslaver. Gah! Where'd you come from? And don't you dare. My feelings about Mindslaver haven't changed in the past few years either. I refuse to play against any deck that uses it.
