So Hashbro just issued what is basically a C&D letter to the creater of Cockatrice. You can read about it here, but for now its not looking good. To add insult to injury they aren't just demanding he take it down, but they are trying to force him to sign something that lets them charge him an unspecified amount in damages. Some may say to this, "Who cares?" But for organized online vintage tournaments this is big. Vintage is an extremely expensive format out of most people's financial reach so Cockatrice tournaments were a free option that is now gone. Normally I'd say charging people to use it would be acceptable, but since Wizards refuses to reprint cards on the reserved list, I say that they brought this on themselves. As an additional note, Magic online currently doesn't allow you to buy P9 or other vintage staples so you can't use that as an option.

I heard about this a few days ago, I haven't ever used Cockatrice, though I was going to download it, which is when I found out about it being taken down... though Magic Workstation is still up... for the moment.

I recently redownloaded Cockatrice mainly to virtually build and test decks. Magic Workstation I use too and for this purpose it still works. It allows entry of custom cards so at worst I could manually enter card info.
