hey, i posted what i had to say and i haven't really had any ideas... but i will just put in my two cents again since your haveing alittle fit about it. Forgive me for thinking that, since I pitched this idea more than a month ago, we should be a little bit farther in than we are now. If everybody waits to work on this until some inspiration hits them, this will take years to get done. Sometimes you've just gotta force yourself to think.

I had an inspiration for a new mechanic for spells. I need your vote as to which version of it is better: Burn Spell 1 Mirror (for each spell on the stack when this resolves, Burn Spell copies its effect) Deal 1 damage to any target. or Burn Spell 2 Deal 2 damage to target creature or player. Its controller may pay 2 to put an exact copy of this spell on the stack. Either way I'm having trouble with the wording. Could be because it's 6:15 in the morning. The first one basically does 1 damage for each spell already on the stack when it resolves, and the second is kinda similar to Chain Lightning. Hopefully you can see where I'm trying to go with these mechanics. Which way would be better?

i like the first one better. but its kind of like a storm. the wording needs to be adjusted a little, it wasn;t clear until i read what you said about it.

Storm counts all spells you have played this turn. Version #1 of Mirror counts all spells currently on the stack when it resolves, no matter who cast them. That's not really all that similar in my opinion.

i didn't think of other people spells at all, thats kind of cool. I like that. I see what you mean though, when you put it that way, its not that similar

So Burn Spell 1 works something like this: Me: Shock your Rootwater Thief. Opponent: Unsummon it in response. Me: Pyroblast the Unsummon. It ain't gettin away that easily. Opponent: Mana Leak the Pyroblast. Yes it is. Me: Alright, hit it with Burn Spell 1 in response. That's 5 damage. Opponent: Aw, crap.

Alright, we'll call that the Mirror mechanic. Although, that doesn't mean the other version (the Chain Lightning one) can't show up on a cycle of cards, it just won't be keyworded.

Well Volrath, it looks like you and I are going to be doing 90% or more of the work in this project. Anybody else who wants to can still participate of course, but nobody else seems to want to put forth the effort to work on this consistently.

Alright, I've got a new wording for Mirror: Burn Spell 1 Instant Mirror (When you play this spell, copy its effect for each spell on the stack as it resolves, no matter who cast them.) Burn Spell 1 deals 1 damage to target creature or player.

Since there is now a whole board for this project, I think we should start threads for specific areas of discussion, such as story, mechanics to use, etc.

the tricky thing about this is that we all pretty much only design rare creatures. commons and spells are a bit trickier. Maybe a mechanic that would fit on common spells would help us

i have an idea for a keyworded ability. Burst (Increase the effect of this spell by X, where X is the number of this card in all graveyards.) the wording may need some adjustment depending on the card. Its a take off of a cycle of cards from odyssey (Muscle, Aether, Life, Flame, and Mind Burst.

yes i like the idea, but we should limit it a little, like specific kinds of cards (sorceries, instants.....etc) or by color.

Ah... the thingy that started with Kindle. Sounds good if we can come up with things different than the original Burst cards.
