If everybody waits to work on this until some inspiration hits them, this will take years to get done. Sometimes you've just gotta force yourself to think. i think that ideas are like poop and when you cant get any its like your constipated, they dont come out, but if you force it you could hurt yourself or bad stuff might happen, and if you let things happen normaly you'll be rewarded. like my annalogy but anyway, i like those abilitys, especially the mirror one. i'm tinkering with an ability myself but i'm not ready to say what it is yet

It's like Thomas Edison said: "Genius is one percent inspiration, and ninety-nine percent perspiration." Think about all the books you like to read, all the video games you play, all the tv shows you watch, all the Magic cards in your decks. All of those (with the exception of maybe a card here and there) didn't just create themselves. People sat down and worked on it. I know this isn't quite the same situation as we're not being paid to do it or anything, but I still want to get this project done and if we just sit around and wait until inspiration hits then I will be typing out cards from a nursing home in fifty years.

I saw a mechanic that somebody posted on the Magic General board on the Wizards site that I think is really cool.
It was something along the lines of:
Mechanic (If you have two cards with Mechanic in your hand, you may discard them to search your library for a card and put it in your hand, then shuffle your library).
Somebody else on there suggested that you only be able to search for another card with the Mechanic.
I think that's a really cool concept.

O.K. I think I will get in on this now. Something else to occupy my time with. For a few suggestions, I say we go with a multiple color set, for balance sake. though I think this has already been decided. Also, I'm not sure about mechanics, but I say we use the word bury instead of removed form the game, though this really doesn't matter. And that really isn't a mechanic but...
How about bringing back banding, or buyback, or kicker? The possibilities are endless.

How about bringing back banding, or buyback, or kicker? The possibilities are endless. Every color will be included, of course. I'm thinking there will be gold cards too, because WotC hasn't made any since Judgment. As for bury, I think you mean in place of "Destroy that creature. It can't be regenerated." I'm fine with doing that if everybody else is. As far as what to bring back, I don't remember if we had any consensus yet or not, since nobody's been posting in here lately. But I think it would be good to work banding at least back in, since it used to be a core set ability.

Several questions: 1. Do we want to use "bury" again or not? 2. What mechanic might we bring back? 3. Anybody want to keyword an old ability in this block (like they did with Vigilance in Kamigawa)? For #3, I have a few suggestions: Spirit Link - Whenever this creature deals damage, you gain that much life. Empyrial - This creature gets +1/+1 for each card in your hand (not a big fan of this one, but it's a possibility). Web - This creature may block as though it had flying. Invisibility - This creature can only be blocked by Walls. (not a big fan of this one either.) Lure - All creatures able to block this creature must do so. Seeker - This creature may only be blocked by white creatures and artifact creatures. (don't like this one at all; it's a black Fear with little/no flavor justification.) Any of those possibilities?

Ok, we can do without Spirit Link. Why don't you like it though?

Well, how would S.L. read on a card, keyworded?

Pretty much, but a couple small word changes:
Spirit Link (When this creature deals damage, you gain that much life.)

Since developing the story is going to take forever (especially since we haven't even started roleplaying it yet), I think we should proceed with making some cards. We can add legends later, as well as flavor text once we have some kind of story. We can even hold off permanent card names until later, and just use temporary names for now. As you can probably tell, I'm anxious to get to the fun part: making the cards.
