I have a feeling we're going to see some Bloodline Keepers in your vampire deck.

So I have to say I'm really liking the theme of this deck. Vampires, Werewolves, Humans, Spirits, Zombies, etc. Plus there are a of cards that only target Vampires, Werewolves, Zombies or cards that target anything but those.
Wizards also seemed to implement a new layout of booster packs. You still get 15 cards in a pack but now the layout is 9 commons then 3 uncommons then 1 rare and finally 2 floaters. The floaters could literally be anything; a land, a note card, common, uncommon, rare, mythic rare. I actually got one pack with the normal rare, plus the two floaters were a rare and a mythic rare. I think its a great idea, though I can see it driving down the price of cards on the secondary market; not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
I basically bought a booster box and a fat pack of the set and got a ton of cards I set aside that I may be adding to my decks; I just have to figure out how to fit them in and if I want to use them all.

Vampires and zombies and werewolves... what do all the other colors besides black get? Also, I'd love to check out your new stuff whenever we sit down to play next. I'm sure I don't have anything to trade that you're looking for, but even so I like to look.

I'm looking over the cards now I bought a pack and pulled a couple cool cards and got a double sided card too. However some cards are really disgusting and not in a cool way either. I really have a problem with Army of the Damned

Could your problem be that it gives you thirteen creatures for eight mana? Or perhaps that it gives 2/2 creatures, which normally cost 2 mana apiece (or 1 mana with some kind of drawback, such as Carnophage, Goblin Cohort, or even Isamaru, Hound of Konda), while this spell grants you those creatures for just over half a mana each? Or perhaps your problem is that a turn or two later, if you've somehow failed to win the game with your thirteen zombies (which are probably stronger than 2/2 because you've had plenty of time to put boosters like Lord of the Undead or Undead Warchief in play before you could cast this spell), you can just do it again for another thirteen zombies since the card has flashback? If you can't tell, I agree with you about this card. There are other things I object to more, but it's a sign of the huge power creep that has come into the game in the last few years which I am not a fan of at all. Also, by the time you can play this, there's a good chance you already have Endless Ranks of the Dead in play, which means your number of zombies is going to skyrocket quickly. Granted, they're fairly small on their own and therefore vulnerable to board sweepers like Pyroclasm, but as I've already mentioned it's pretty easy to pump them up.

Good lord that other card I didn't even know about. I thought Gempalm Polluter was bad before.

Oh jeez, I forgot about Gempalm Polluter. He's a real killer now, and could feasibly take someone from full to dead, un-counterable, pretty d**n quickly now.

So I cracked and bought a fat pack the other day since I've decided to aim for the set. I really like this set I haven't liked one so much since Tempest. This is the Ravenloft of magic given the 19th century gothic horror theme. The idea of pairing colors with monsters is cool according to wikipedia the idea is to represent two very different kinds of monsters. Like with zombies the black ones are your traditional Romaro undead while blue ones are supposed to be more of lab experements like Frankenstein's monster which is funny given that is indeed a black card.
Anyway the box was worth it its sturdy the life counter was nice and the deck boxes are fun to have. What I really like is the guide that has the general backstory plus a visual spoiler list and a checklist in the back. It was 40 for 9 packs but at 4 bucks a pack II basically gave up getting one pack. Works out though given all the land I got the 15 basic land art so it was sort of like getting that 10th pack. Also got 10 checklist cards for the double sided cards which is a nice bonus.

Sounds good. I definitely can understand wanting the set. When you get a list together of what you need for it let me know and I'll see what I have.

While thematically I think the set is cool, they've really pushed the power level (with rares and mythic rares anyway, I haven't seen to much in the way of commons that impresses me) past the point where I'm comfortable.
I'm not to the point yet where I'm willing to say "I will not play against these cards," but I'm definitely getting to where I let out a little sigh of sadness when I have to go up against the crazy-powerful shit they're pumping out now.
