Nevinyrrals Disk and Darksteel Forge. infinite destruction for cheap. with a Mycosynth Lattice in, it becomes tap 1 and tap the disk, destroy everything you don't control

You can make him pretty much whatever you want. Observe this post I lifted from the WotC board (original author's name is Chezzelvisbob):

Then the answer is obviously Volraths Shapeshifter. With Survival of the Fittest in play:

You target it? It's a Zephid.
You clear the board? It's a Rainbow Efreet
I attack with it, it's a Covert Operative
After you declare blockers it's a Dragon Tyrant.
You really want to seal the deal? It's Phage.

All this for the low low price of 1.

Why bother with other creature which have weaknesses, when you could have the amazing Volraths Shapeshifter.

you have to cast them in the opposite order though

Well, not necessarily. If you cast False Cure in response to the Beacon, it will resolve first. If it weren't an instant it would be a useless card.

yeah, thats true. Their life wouldn't become zero it would become the negative of whatever it was before because you lose 2 for every 1 you gain.

Yes but it doesn't prevent you actually gaining that life. So, say I'm at 20 life, and I cast Beacon of Immortality, then you play False Cure. The False Cure resolves first, then the Beacon hits. I gain 20 life, bumping myself up to 40, and instantly I lose twice what I gained (putting me at an even 0).

Manabarbs and Drain Power

Your opponent takes lots of damage, and you have plenty of mana to spend however you want. just be sure you have a way to rid yourself of the mana, otherwise you take a lot of mana burn.
