well, wait until after it gets tweaked to make your decision. it doesn;t have to have the EXACT same flavor as before. Its an idea that can be worked off of.

Then please tweak away.

Turning back the clock to the Mind/Matter thing... What if we made Matter fetch creatures instead of lands? Since we want a creature sub-theme in this block, I think it's appropriate. It could have a cost associated with it (similar to activating the ability on Llanowar Sentinel. Or, it could work like Soulshift, where there's a number associated with it (i.e. Matter 3 to go for a creature of converted mana cost 3 or less). If we went with the other possibility then I would rather it go to your hand than straight to play in order to minimize the broken-ness.

I like Matter fetching creatures (into your hand), and with Soulshift type thing sounds cool too. What if it wasn't just a cost restriction though? After all, there is a tribal sub-theme...
Song of Nature 3GG Instant Target creature gets +2/+2. Matter--Shaman (As you play this card, you may search your card for a shaman, reveal it, and put it into your hand).

i think we should combine them. Like
Matter: Shaman 3 (search your library for a shaman of converted mana cost 3 or less)
Mind could work as a soulshift for instants/sorceries

If we do both a cost restriction and a tribe restriction I think it might limit the cards too much. However, I really like the idea of it being tribe-based, and if we go with just one or the other my vote goes to that. However, I think we could do both in different sets. Kinda like how when they did Affinity in Mirrodin, it was just for artifacts, but in Darksteel they had golems with Affinity for the different land types. In our first set we could have creatures with Matter and a number, then in the next set Matter and a tribe.
I'm not sure if we should do both though, so what do you guys think?

So, tribe-based Matter is in?

Looks that way. Question now is whether to go with just that, a combo of both as Volrath suggested, or alternate the two like I tossed out there.

i'm up for any of the 3, so you guys can battle it out.

I'm definitely predjudiced, but the Tribal fetch seems most versatile.
It also fits the theme of the block well.
Both together is overrestrictive. Period.
Converted mana cost is good, however, it does not show the theme of the block in any way, shape, or form, and also it has much more potential to be overpowered with certain creatures.
My vote to creature type.

Another idea (although, again, this might only work for one set) could be an extra ability on enchantments where if you pay the enchantment's casting cost and remove it from the game, you can search your deck for another enchantment of the same color and put it into your hand. It's sort of a tweaked version of cycling, though, but it's an idea.
Come to think of it, this might work better as an instant or sorcery card where you select a target enchantment rather than as an ability...

It could make for some pretty interesting deck strategies...

So it's kinda like enchantment-tutoring, right? For example, if I had this card: Super Cool Black Enchantment Cost: Enchant Creature Enchanted creature gets +3/+1 and bad gas problems. Ability (You may pay and remove Super Cool Black Enchantment from the game to search your library for a black Enchant Creature spell, reveal it, and put it into your hand.) Something vaguely like that? Obviously my wording needs work, but is that the general idea?
